A Catford man has been jailed for carrying out obscene sexual acts on himself while looking at women’s feet at a bus stop.

Aaron Black, 30, of Boundfield Road, Catford, was found guilty at Inner London Crown Court of eight counts of outrageous public decency, six counts of exposure and one of sexual assault. He has now been sentenced to two and a half years in prison.

The court heard that between July 2016 and April 2017, the foot fetishist performed sexual acts towards his victims, normally at or near a bus stop.

The most recent offence was in early April this year at a bus stop on Molesworth Street, Lewisham.

Black also committed sexual offences across London in Lewisham, Shoreditch and Elephant and Castle.

Over nine months, the court was told, Black committed 15 offences in total in Lewisham, Southwark and Hackney. There were a total of eight victims of his crimes, all female.

One of the assaults committed by Black took place while he was on bail awaiting trial for earlier offences.

After Black was sentenced last Thursday [May 18] Acting Detective Sergeant Gavin Staplehurst, from the Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: “I would like to thank the victims in this case for reporting these offences and assisting the police and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) with the subsequent court case.

“Each of the victims in the case was a young woman who took time out of their lives to assist the police. The judge agreed to a request known as special measures in order to shield them from Black when giving evidence as part of the police and CPS approach to Total Victim Care.

“I would also like to thank Varinder Hayre and Paul Rattigan from the CPS who I worked with in partnership to deliver this successful outcome.”

Siwan Hayward, TfL’s Head of Transport Policing, said: “I commend all these women for coming forward and reporting what they saw. Every report matters and helped police build a picture so they could catch Black and he could be sentenced for his offensive, disgusting crimes.

“This behaviour will not be tolerated on our transport network. Offenders will be identified and brought to justice.”
