A man has been charged with assaulting a passenger on a bus in New Cross Gate.

Kirk Wright, 32, was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, after being arrested on March 15.

Emergency services arrived at the scene in the early hours of March 13, after reports of an assault on the number 53 bus, near the junction with Alpha Road.

The 36-year-old male victim remains in a critical condition in a south London hospital, after suffering a severe head injury.

The attacker made off towards Amersham Vale, after approaching and attacking the victim on the lower deck of the bus.

Wright, of Egmont Street in Lewisham, will appear in court on April 13.
