Police are investigating the stabbing of a man in Croydon town centre who took himself to hospital after the attack.

The 21-year-old victim and his friend were involved in an argument with a group of 10 suspects at around 3.15am on Sunday, while walking along Katharine Street.

The friend was punched before the victim was stabbed in the leg.

Police were called at around 4am to a south London hospital where the victim was being treated.

The 21-year-old has now been discharged, and no arrests have yet been made.

Detective Constable Chris Dimmer, said: “Although this assault happened in the early hours of the morning, it took place in a busy area of Croydon town centre.

“I’m sure there would have been other people in the area, who may have either seen the assault, or a large group hanging around.

“I would also like to appeal to any motorists, including cab drivers, with dash cam footage who were driving close to the High Street to come forward.”

Croydon CID detectives ask anyone with information to contact them via 101 quoting reference 1338/20 May.
