The Metropolitan Police have issued an appeal for witnesses after a teenager was attacked and left with slash wounds to the head in Bethnal Green on May 17.

Officers were called to Globe Road at 3.45pm after receiving reports of a large group fight. When arriving, they found a 17-year old male with life-threatening injuries.

The teenager was successfully treated at hospital and discharged last week.

Another male teenager, aged 15, was found nearby with minor injuries. He was taken to hospital and has since been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent.

Detective Constable Greg Adams said: “This was a nasty incident and it was pure luck that he was not more seriously injured.”

Since the incident, another three male teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent.

Adams continued: “This happened in the middle of the day in Bethnal Green and we are sure that there are more people who saw this who have yet to share what they know.”

All suspects have been bailed and are expected to return in mid-June.
