Man charged with Beckenham murder

A man has been charged by detectives investigating the murder of a woman in Beckenham.

Mrs Dyer was found unresponsive at her home in Oakwood Avenue, Beckenham on 18 July.

David Samuel McCorkell, 54, of Beckenham Road, Penge was arrested on Tuesday, 23 July, and was later charged with the murder of 61-year-old Diane Dyer.

A post-mortem examination which took place on Friday, 19 July, concluded that Mrs Dyer’s death was a result of blunt force trauma to the head and face.

McCorkell was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon and will appear in custody on Wednesday, 24 July, at Bromley Magistrates’ Court.
