Eastlondonlines is an independent local news website serving the diverse communities of four London boroughs: Lewisham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Croydon. It is produced by journalism students at Goldsmiths, University of London, guided by the experienced journalists who teach them.
We are passionate about local journalism, which we believe should be well-researched and investigative, inclusive and relevant to its readers – the people who live and work in Lewisham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Croydon. We aim to hold our local representatives to account, inspire debate on local issues, provide a platform on which voices that are marginalized or missing from public life can be heard, and shine a light on the real issues that affect local people.
We are passionate, too, about the boroughs we serve, which we believe are among the most vibrant and creative areas in the country: we will celebrate the people, places and events that make Lewisham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Croydon such wonderful places to live and work.
In short, Eastlondonlines promises to bring you real local news, produced to the highest ethical standards, and to celebrate all that is good about this particular slice of London.
To do this well, we need to hear from our readers. So if you have a news story to submit to Eastlondonlines, or a local event you would like us to cover, please contact us via the form on our “Contact” page.
If you have a complaint or see an error, please contact the managing editor, Terry Kirby (t.kirby @gold.ac.uk), providing a link to the relevant story. EastLondonLines’ policy is to correct significant errors as soon as possible. Corrections appear on the relevant web page.
