The Lewisham Deptford constituency is considered to be safe Labour territory, with the party accruing more than half the share of the votes in 2005.

The Green party saw their second strongest result in the country here at the 2005 general election and it is one of their three target seats for 2010. Labour will expect to hold this seat comfortably in 2010, though perhaps with a reduced share of the vote.

Lewisham East is considered a safe Labour seat, with the party amassing just under a half of the total vote share in 2005, compared to a quarter for the Conservatives and just over a fifth for the Liberal Democrats. Given the demographics of the area – made up largely of council housing and middle class residential districts – the seat is unlikely to switch from Labour control in 2010.

Lewisham West was a safe Labour seat in 2005, with the party enjoying just over half of the share of votes, compared to a fifth of the vote share each for both the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives. The boundary review – which saw the constituency absorb areas from neighbouring Bromley – will likely favour the Conservatives, but Labour will expect to hold the seat in 2010, albeit with a reduced share of the vote.
