Detectives believe the incident occured during a burglary at her 15th-floor flat in Valiant House, Sam Bartram Close.

Daniel Franklin from Felixstowe Road, Abbeywood, south-east London, was charged late on Tuesday and is appearing at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Detectives have also arrested a woman in connection with the murder enquiry which is based at Lewisham police station. Earlier a man and woman in their early thirties, who had been initially arrested, were released and eliminated from the inquiry.

A post-mortem examination in Greenwich established that Mrs Barrett had died from multiple stab wounds.
