The Deptford X art festival returns this year from 24 September to 3 October.

The lead artist and Deptford local, Mark Titchner has created the theme for this year’s festival which is “Grand and spectacular, ephemeral or concealed, art qualified and created by daily life.”

This ‘everyday’ concept has been interpreted in many ways by the participating artists,  bird song playing at the train station, videos in shop windows,  the Albany artist in residence, Anna Pickering, is running regular Friday afternoon Art Tai Chi classes and

Open studios and galleries include the APT gallery, the art hub, the acme studios, the Core gallery, the creekside artists and the Old Deptford Police Station.

As part of Deptford X, Mark Tichner will be using the outside of the Arthouse building to exhibit a banner.

In a previous Deptford X project, Mark Titchner worked with students from Deptford Green School to create a new piece of artwork with original photography from the students. The work has now been placed on the side of three rubbsish trucks in Deptford.
