American rock band Kings Of Leon graced the stage in Brockley’s Rivoli Ballroom yesterday for a secret special fans-only gig and recording for BBC Radio 1.

To promote their new album ‘Come Around Sundown,’ they showcased several new songs as well as playing older favourites.

“We don’t get to play in venues like this very often,” said frontman Caleb Followill. Brockley’s Rivoli Ballroom was decorated with elaborate chandeliers and red lamps for the occasion.

Claiming to be ‘pretty jetlagged’ from only flying in the day before, there were some technical glitches early on but the band quickly got their nerve back and launched into their new tracks.

After a finale of ‘Use Somebody’ followed by ‘Black Thumbnail,’ Followill said to their fans: “You guys have been wonderful, thank you for coming all this way. God bless you, we are Kings Of Leon.”

Highlights of the intimate concert entitled ‘BBC Radio 1 Presents…Kings Of Leon’ will be broadcast from 8pm tonight – Thursday – on that channel.
