A Lewisham police officer has been arrested on suspicion of assault and placed on restricted duty.

The 44-year old officer, who has not been named, was arrested on Monday and has been released on bail to return to a police station in December.

The arrest relates to an alleged road rage incident on the morning of November 6th, on Crofton Road in Locksbottom, Bromley.  The officer was off-duty when the incident happened.

“A serving police officer has been arrested, and the Metropolitan police’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed,” a Lewisham police spokesperson confirmed.

The officer has been placed on restricted duty and will serve shorter hours until further investigations are completed early next month, at which time police investigating the incident will decide whether or not to press charges.
