Murder inquiry begins into fatal stabbing

A murder inquiry has begun after a man was stabbed to death in a house on Stockbury Road, near Ashburton park.
Detective Chief Inspector Amanda Hargreaves will lead the investigation, after a 24-year-old was found dead on Tuesday morning.
Police were called at approximately 1.30am yesterday to reports of a man stabbed at an address in Stockbury Road, Croydon.

The ambulance service was also called, though the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is thought that three men broke into the house and stabbed the victim.
A police spokesman said: “We believe we know the identity of the deceased but await formal identification. Next of kin have been informed.”

Reports are naming him as Daniel McGinty, with some suggesting that he was visiting his fiancée, Kareena Madashia, and with whom it is believed he was expecting a child.

Miss Madashia was reportedly living with her mother and brother.

Parts of the road are still cordoned off, with police having removed McGinty’s car at around 4pm yesterday.

A post-mortem examination was due to take place at 2pm today at Croydon mortuary, but police have not yet released any information on its results.
