A Croydon man has been ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register after being caught taking photos up women’s skirts on the London Underground trains.

Robert Bayliss, 50, was caught red-handed by undercover British Transport Police officers taking indecent photos on his mobile phone in Victoria station last September.

The officers were on a patrolling for pickpockets when they noticed Bayliss acting suspiciously on the escalator. He was arrested immediately after police officers searched his phone and found over 100 similar images.

Bayliss’ behaviour has been described as “rare but disgusting” by British Transport police constable Claire Sheals.

He appeared in court in February and pleaded guilty to two counts of outraging public decency. He was given 3-year community order and has also been banned from carrying any type of photographic equipment on the whole of the rail network for five years.
