Rapper Snoop Dogg to headline Lovebox weekender festival in Victoria Park

Legendary hip hop star Snoop Dogg will play his only UK festival show this summer, by headlining the Lovebox weekender event in July.

The rapper will reunite with his crew Tha Dogg Pound, which includes Warren G, Kurupt and Daz Dillinger, to perform his debut album Doggystyle, at the three-day festival, from July 15- July 17, in Victoria Park.

According to organisers, it will be the first time that the quadruple platinum selling album has been performed live in its entirety since it was released in 1993. Doggystyle, which includes the hit ‘What’s My Name?’ has earned recognition from many music critics as one of the most significant albums of the 1990s, as well as one of the most important hip hop albums ever released.

Snoop Dogg tweeted about his appearance at Lovebox saying : “Wat it to do London? I can’t wait to come overseas ‘n’ blow it down like a broke stove. It goin’ down like four flat tyres.”

Other acts playing the Lovebox event include Scissor Sisters, Kelis, Blondie, The Wombats, Robyn and Lykke Li, Katy B and The Drums.

The festival, founded by DJs Groove Armada, has been running since 2002. In 2005 it moved from Clapham Common to its current location in Victoria Park.
