A 15-year-old girl has been arrested after drugs bound for an address in Croydon were found in a pillowcase near Coventry Airport.

The package, which weighed in at 1.8kg, was intercepted by the UK Border Agency at a postal distribution centre near the airport. The haul is reported to have come from Pakistan.

It was addressed to a residential property in the Croydon area and was intercepted at the Coventry International Hub.

The teenager was arrested last Thursday, whilst officers from the Metropolitan Police Service’s Middle Market Drugs Partnership also arrested a 53-year-old woman.

Metropolitan police said the pillowcase, which was used instead of an envelope, contained thousands of pounds worth of class A drug heroin among items of clothing.

A Met spokesman said two additional suspects, men aged 34 and 43, were arrested on Friday and taken to a south London police station for questioning.

The girl, woman and 42-year-old man have been released on bail until June, whilst the 34-year-old man has been released without charge.
