La Fete brings the African beat back to Open the Gate

La Fete is back once again this month and continuing in its mission to bring the best African inspired music to Open the Gate in Dalston.

April’s instalment features a live performance from Yabba Funk, who feature at the top of the bill. The Brixton based outfit have previously blazed stages at grand venues such as the Barbican and legendary festivals like Shambala. They bring a sound that is highly informed by Hi-Life, the ultra-infectious roots style borne in Ghana, as well as classic funk and contemporary hip-hop, which is bound together  by all important big basslines and a firing horn section.

The evening will also feature Chippeur, who will be teaching the ways of modern African dance moves, as well as Hubbardsax, a saxophone maestro. As always, ELL favourite DJ Oya Bun will be heating up the dance-floor.

ELL has got five tickets to give away. Just e-mail news@eastlondonlines.co.uk.

When emailing include your full name and telephone number.

Entries close at 10am on Saturday. We’ll be pulling names out of a hat and emailing the winners straight afterwards
