Friends of a young artist who was killed by a collision with a lorry whilst cycling through Hackney have organised a gig in his memory.

The Grubby Mitts band and musician Johnny Parry will dedicate their performance at Café Oto in Ashwin Street on April 21 to Daniel Cox.

The 28-year-old was a Goldsmiths college graduate, worked at the Payne Shurvell gallery in Shoreditch and had recently curated the ‘Welcome to Paradise’ exhibition at the moment of the accident, shortly before 4.45pm on February 2. He died two days later.

Organisers of the concert, said: “Originally arranged as the launch party for the single To a Friend’s House, the Grubby Mitts have, after the recent tragic death of Dan Cox on the crossroads of Dalston Junction, changed the emphasis of the evening to a celebration for their close friend.”

Proceeds from the night will go to the London Cycling Campaign. Tickets are £6 in advance.
