The Metropolitan Police have made a fresh appeal for witnesses to a fatal shooting in Tower Hamlets. Detectives have released a picture of the victim Wayne Stockdale, 42, from Poplar in east London.

Stockdale was cycling along Rounton Road on 6th May in Tower Hamlets, when two male suspects opened fire.

Police were called to the scene at around 10.20pm. Stockdale suffered from gunshot wounds to the head, and was taken to the Royal London Hospital. He later died on 10th May. A post mortem is due to be held this afternoon.

The suspects have been described by police as “black or Asian and wearing face coverings”. They were seen heading towards Knapp Road and got into a car. There are no further details of the vehicle used.

Detective Chief Inspector John Crossley, of Trident, which specialises in gun crime, said:

“At this stage we do not believe Wayne was the intended target for this incident which saw shots fired both at him and into the street.”
