Three held after police officer stabbed

A male police officer on plain clothes patrol was stabbed in Bute Road, Waddon last night and is being treated in a South London hospital for serious injuries which are “not thought to be life threatening.” Three men, all aged 18 years old, have been arrested and are being questioned at separate police stations in south London.  The incident happened at 9.45 on Thursday evening 19th May.

The London Ambulance Service attended and treated him at the scene for stab wounds before taking him to hospital.

The wounded police officer is described by the Metropolitan Police as being “in a serious condition.”  He is in his 30s.

He was in a “proactive plain clothes patrol” based at Croydon borough.

The Met Police say:

The officer was on patrol with colleagues and had stopped a group of male teenagers in Bute Road when the suspect, one of the teenagers stopped, stabbed him.
