Weapon fired at police patrol in Clapton

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an incident in which police officers were shot at while they were on patrol in Clapton on Tuesday. Officers had been monitoring CCTV in the area of Mandeville Street when they noticed three males on bicycles acting suspiciously.

A shot was fired in the direction of the patrol vehicle as police approached the young men. They then ran off across a nearby footbridge.

A firearm was recovered at the scene and no one was injured.

The men involved are described as black and aged in their late teens or early 20s.
