A woman escaped ‘without any serious injuries’ when a fire broke out in two-storey maisonette on Wick Road in Hackney, according to the London Fire Brigade.

The woman, who jumped out of a first floor window, was suffering from smoke inhalation and was treated on the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.

Four fire engines and twenty fire fighters were at the scene.

“Fortunately no one was seriously injured and our fire-fighters managed to save a dog”, Jim Hewett, Station Manager at Leyton fire station said.

The London Fire Brigade later stated on Twitter that the woman had to “jump from the window because she couldn’t find her front door keys” and urged people to make sure they had “access to them at all times.”
