Tram services in Croydon will see severe disruption next week, as London Tramlink will be carrying out essential planned work.

TfL has said that no service will operate between Reeves Corner and East Croydon from Saturday 11 to Friday 17 February. Trams will not run between East Croydon and Elmers End during early mornings, evenings and all day on Sunday 12 February.

Two hundred metres of track are being replaced as part of Tramlink’s Investment Programme.

Interim director of London Tramlink, Sharon Thompson said: “This is necessary maintenance and upgrade work which needs to be done as it means a more reliable service for passengers as well as less wear and tear on our trams.”

A number of tram stops including George Street, Church Street, Centrale, West Croydon and Wellesley Road will also be closed.

Some roads will also be affected due to engineering work. George Street will be closed to traffic, with a diversion along Park Street. The Wellesley Road slip road and George Street will be closed, and Station Road’s northbound lane will be closed for traffic. Valid tram tickets will be accepted on local bus services between Reeves Corner and East Croydon.
