Witnesses urged to come forward after 26-year-old man caught in fatal hit and run on Kingsland Road

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal hit and run collision in Hoxton early this morning.

Hackney resident Dexter Kibble, 26, was rushed to Whitechapel’s Royal London Hospital with serious head and chest injuries, but died of his injuries at 3:30pm.

Officers were called to Kingsland Road at 2am by reports that a blue Ford Fiesta had hit a male pedestrian near the junction with Orsman Road.

The occupants abandoned the vehicle and their victim to fleeing on foot down Orsman.

A man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s have been arrested in connection with the incident, but bailed pending further inquiries with a return date in late March.

Sergeant John Woods from the Road Death Investigation Unit urged anyone who witnessed the collision, or the events immediately prior to or after it, to contact police.

He said: “We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the two people running away from the blue Ford Fiesta which was abandoned at the scene.”

“These people may not realise the consequences of their actions, which have left a young man dead and a family devastated. I would urge them to do the decent thing and contact the police at the earliest opportunity.”
