Police have seized a large amount of cannabis and an estimated £60,000 in cash following two raids in Croydon this morning.
Officers from Broad Green and Selhurt Safer Neighbourhoods team raided a house in Oakfield Road after receiving information that drugs were being dealt there. They discovered a large amount of what is believed to be herbal cannabis and cannabis resin, and approximately £50,000 in cash.
Two men, aged 42 and a 45, were arrested on suspicion of possession of class B drugs with intent to supply and on suspicion of money laundering respectively. Following the arrest of the 45-year-old, another search was carried out in Rectory Road, Waddon, where £10,000 was recovered at the scene.
PC Pat Nolan, from the Broad Green SNT, who led the operation, said: “Thanks to information from the public, we’ve been able to target an address with suspected links to drugs and recovered a large amount of what we believe to be cannabis and around £60,000 in cash as well.
“Residents of Broad Green should be reassured that if they tell us about a problem in their neighbourhood, then we will take appropriate action. If you’ve got a problem or suspect something similar, let us know or call CrimeStoppers and we can help put a stop to it.”
The two men remain in custody at a south London police station.
