We have put together a video guide of what’s going on in the museums and galleries along the East London Line over the Easter holidays. This is what Hackney has to offer.

The V&A Museum of Childhood:

As well as displaying a wealth of permanent material relating to childhood pursuits of the past and present, forthcoming exhibitions include:

‘Playing in or Out?’ which explores how indoor and outdoor play has changed over the last 50 years.

‘Beautiful Games’ which examines the life of the professional athlete, offers visitors the chance to experience a white knuckle ride in a virtual skeleton bobsleigh, measure their reaction time with a ‘beat the clock’ test, and throw some moves on an electronic dance floor.

‘The Value of the Paw’, an exhibition produced by contemporary British sculptor Cathie Pilkington, who has produced a three-dimensional cast of strange creatures and well-known characters from popular fairy tales.

There are also a number of free weekday activities during the Easter period.

Geffrye Museum:

There are a wealth of exhibitions on offer over Easter at The Geffrye Museum, including ‘Global Eggs’, where children can decorate an egg and eggcup inspired by a country of their choice. There are also treasure hunts, an event that explores the history of chocolate and interactive nursery rhyme readings.
