Three teenagers have appeared in court over the murder of 16-year-old Nathaniel Brown who died at a house party in Lewisham last week.
The teenagers, Jeffrey Otete, 18, from Deptford, Felix Connel, 18, from Middlesex, and a 16-year-old boy from Deptford who cannot be named, were charged with murder and remanded in custody after their hearing at the Old Bailey on August 7.
Nathaniel, known to his friends at ‘Natz’ suffered a single stab wound to the chest in the living room of a house on Lancelot Road, Downham. He had celebrated his 16th birthday just a few days earlier. Emergency crews were called to the scene at 4am on Wednesday August 1 but the victim was pronounced dead just over an hour later.
It was reported that Nathaniel was stabbed while trying to break up a fight. A family friend, who gave his name as Philip, told the Evening Standard: “It was a small gathering of youngsters. We believe he stepped in to try and stop an argument that was going on.
“It is the same old story, he got it. It is terrible, black on black knife crime. It got out of hand.”
The trio are due to reappear at the Old Bailey on November 7 for a plea and case management hearing.
