Watch live on EastLondonLines as people from Lewisham put their questions to Chief Superintendent Russell Nyman from 6:45pm until 7:45pm.
EastLondonLines reported today that crime rates have gone down in the borough, read more here.
Earlier today EastLondonLines were on the streets of New Cross finding out if local residents feel safe, find out here.
Also this week, EastLondonLines reported on a man who was stabbed in New Cross, and a police appeal for the suspect of another incident last month, full story here.
In reference to Chief Superintendent Russell Nyman’s answer to my first question – the figures released show that in the 12 months leading up to sept 2011 there were 122 gun crimes. In the 12 months leading up to sept 2012 there were 151 gun crimes. That IS an increase of almost 20%, not 8% (and 29 more, not 6 more like he said). His other stats he mentions are wrong too – he’s going off only the month of sept 2011 and the month of sept 2012, not the full year. They sound better to him…
