A new weekend market showcasing British designers specialising in hand-made crafts will be launched at Old Spitalfields Market tomorrow.

The event will give 40 designers the opportunity to sell their locally-produced fashion, design, jewellery and illustration, giving the buyer a chance to “meet the maker” and watch art being created before their eyes.

The first week will see the works of illustrators Eight Bear, Ministry of Words and Jo Clark Design;  hand-drawn ceramics maker Jimbob Art; and fashion, textiles and accessories designers Plane Clothing, Matilda Rose, Custom Made and Crystal & Stone.

For the new market, Spitalfields has collaborated with We Make London, a creative organisation that specialises in hosting fairs and events which exclusively showcase the work of British artists.

“This exciting mix of old and new sets the scene for a fantastic shopping experience. “

The event will run over a course of two weekends in October, one weekend in November and will return around Christmas.
