A scene from the latest 007 film, Skyfall, which sees James Bond driving through New Cross, has caused a stir among local residents.

The New Cross Inn, Venue nightclub and other local shops and takeaways appear momentarily, as Bond, who is played by Daniel Craig, drives down New Cross Road.

Since its release on October 26, people have Tweeted about catching a glimpse of business that they recognise from the area.

EastLondonLines reporter Miles Fleming went to watch the film and said: “when Bond and his ally drive down towards Sainsbury’s, you can see the New Cross Inn and Venue and the shop next to Venue.

“It was actually pretty exciting seeing my area on a big blockbuster, though it was brief. It’s all very exciting.”

Skyfall is the 23rd Bond film to be made and brought in £20.1 million in the opening weekend, making it the most successful opening weekend for any Bond film to date.

As well as New Cross, Bond also visits the Scottish Highlands, Shanghai and Macau in the film.

This month marked the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film franchise, making it the longest running film franchise of all time.
