A man has been arrested in Croydon on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead Thursday afternoon.
Police were called to an incident at Duppas Court flats on Duppas Hill Lane at about 3.20pm after neighbours reported hearing a disturbance.
After the officers knocked on the door and received no answer, they returned with a battering ram and forced entry into the home.
A woman in her mid-twenties was found by police and paramedics and pronounced dead at the scene. An injured man in his late-twenties also found was arrested on suspicion of murder.
The man, who works as a personal trainer, is now being treated in a hospital in south London.
A neighbour told the Croydon Advertiser that he saw the couple’s five year old daughter leave the flat moments after the police smashed down the door.
Police have launched a murder investigation and spokesperson said that enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances of this death.
A post-mortem examination will take place today.
