Man accused of schoolgirl’s death appears in court

A man accused of causing the death a teenage girl who died after the car she was travelling in was hit by another vehicle appeared for a preliminary hearing at Woolwich Crown Court today.

Devon Newell has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after thirteen-year-old Wiktoria Was died in a collision in New Cross on January 6.

Newell was remanded in custody until a further hearing on February 12 when he is expected to lodge a plea to the charge

Was, who lived in Hertfordshire, was a passenger in a car containing her parents and four-year-old brother. She was a pupil at Goffs School in Cheshunt.
