Police are urgently appealing for witnesses after an elderly man was viciously attacked by four females.

The 76-year-old victim was attempting to drive out of Carberry Road, Upper Norwood, when two other vehicles blocked it, at about 5.30am on Saturday, February 2.

The victim got out of his vehicle and approached one of the cars in the road, when a woman shouted at him.

The woman then assaulted him minutes after while the other three women joined in a brutal attack.

The victim was left with serious injuries to the face and eye.

The four women then got into their vehicle and escaped onto Westow Street.

The women are described as black females aged approximately 17 or 18 years old.

DC Lucy Shears from Croydon CID said: “We understand there was a party at the SE19 Bar which had not long finished before this incident and there were a number of people leaving that would have either seen what happened during this assault or who may even know who the four suspects are.

“This was a seemingly unprovoked and violent attack on an elderly man and I would urge anyone who may have seen something or if you have any information to contact us as soon as possible.”
