Hackney Council van crashes in to garden wall

A Hackney Council van rolled in to and knocked down a Hackney resident’s garden wall last Saturday and the council has launched an investigation in to the incident.

The van with a Hackney Council authority logo is reported to have rolled 100m down the street before hitting and knocking over the wall in Powerscroft road in Clapton. It is thought to have been unmanned at the time.

Neighbour Oliver Glackin said: “It careered into the front garden wall of one of the houses resulting in it being demolished.”

A council spokesperson said: “We received a report of a minor accident from one of our drivers and we are currently conducting an investigation into the cause.

“We have notified our insurers, photographed the scene and will work with the occupier to help repair any damage caused.”
