A new café will open next week in Croydon’s Coulsdon Memorial Ground.

The Poppy Café will be housed in the recently refurbished café building in the park. Croydon Council have invested a total of £150,000 in the refurbishment of the park and facilities as part of the “Parks to be Proud of” scheme.

The café will be run by local residents Terri and Dawn Douglas. Dawn is an experienced chef and will be serving home-cooked dishes alongside a range of sandwiches, cakes and breakfasts.

Councillor Phil Thomas of Croydon Council said: “The money we’ve invested in Croydon’s parks over the past few years has made a huge difference, and thousands more people can now enjoy the improved facilities we’ve introduced.

“I’m delighted to welcome Dawn and Terri to Coulsdon Memorial Ground and I hope that their business venture proves to be a great success.”

Residents are invited to attend the opening of the Poppy Café on November 9 at 11am.

The opening day will have a ‘discovery trail’ theme which aims to showcase the history and features of the park.

Guest will be offered a small sample menu, with the full range of food and drink being introduced on Monday 11th.
