A 16-year-old from Croydon was found guilty of violent disorder on Friday, November 1. He was the last of six teenagers to be convicted after a fight in Lewisham in August 2012.

The fight occurred on August 21, 2012 in Beckenham Hill Road, Catford. Three men were found injured by the police, two with knife injuries and one with gunshot injuries; they have now fully recovered from these injuries. ELL previously reported on this.

Ten males were arrested in connection with this incident.

Four of them pleaded guilty earlier this year, amongst whom three were from Lewisham.

Anuar Niyangabo, 18, from Lewisham, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and violent disorder on Thursday, 19 September.

A 17-year old boy from Lewisham pleaded guilty to violent disorder on Thursday, 10 October.

They are still in custody and will be back in court on November 29, along with two teenagers from Bromley.

A 16-year-old boy also from Lewisham pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon on Tuesday, 18 June. He was given two year conditional discharge.

Detective Sergeant Simon Mitchell, of the Trident Gang Crime Command, said: “The robust policing response to this large scale violent incident meant that police were able to immediately make several arrests.

“Thankfully all three victims have made a full recovery, however we hope today’s conviction sends a clear message that Trident will always act upon information given to us about those involved in this type of criminal activity and will hold to account those who choose to carry weapons and who are involved in gang violence.”
