A man from Hackney has been charged with the murder of a mother and baby last month.

Roland McKoy, 53 of Oswald’s Mead, was charged with the murders of Valerie Forde and Jahzarah McKoy yesterday.

The 45-year-old mother and her 23-month-old baby, were pronounced dead at a house on the Kingsmead Estate on Monday, March 31.

McKoy was also discovered at the house and taken to an east London hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

He was taken to a London police station when he was discharged on April 9, and is due to appear in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court today.
