The circus is returning to Croydon this spring as street entertainers are set to take over the North End of the town centre.

Following a series of popular performances last year, Covent Garden Entertainment will once again be relocating to South London in a bid to bring more shoppers to Croydon.

This weekend saw the first in a series of one day live events from the highly acclaimed street entertainers.

The events have been organised by the Croydon Business Improvement District (BID).

Matthew Sims, Croydon BID chief executive, said: “We’re thrilled to be launching the first of our new Street Live events with such an impressive array of seasoned performers to entertain visitors and inject some extra fun into the Town Centre.

“This is the first of what we intend to be a regular series of events right across the year, offering a broad and varied mixture of entertainment that is designed to ensure there’s always a great atmosphere in the town that will leave people with a positive lasting impression.”

Alongside the performances will be circus skills workshops, where the public will be given the opportunity to try their hand at a variety of performances.
