The Hackney Connection Voucher is a new initiative offering local companies up to £3,000 to upgrade their broadband connection.

The programme, funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, is open to small and medium sized businesses with up to 250 employees. Companies need a standard broadband connection of over 20Mbps in order to be considered. Enterprises can also file joint applications.

Councillor Guy Nicholson, Hackney’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, explained that the borough has teamed up with the Greater London Authority to improve broadband speeds in Hackney to benefit thriving local businesses.

Nicholson said: “Hackney’s creative and tech sectors are increasingly becoming renowned for their world-beating offer to provide innovative services and products to an international market. To do this they need world-beating broadband speeds and access to the highest quality networks.”

The initiative will begin during London Technology Week, with a Business Breakfast launch on Tuesday 17th June at BL_NK in Shoreditch. The event will host two talks on the business advantages of high speed broadband.
