. Film in the Fields – Future Shorts Summer Festival

How about giving the sofa a break and relaxing with a cocktail in your hand while taking in a great movie?

This Friday and Saturday (August 22 and 23) the BrewHouse at the London Fields Brewery, hosts two nights of screening eight short movies alongside  Jamaican food, drinks and live music.

Later on, the mood will shift from the screen to the dance floor with an after-party.

Croydon

. Blues and soul music live and free

The Grape and Grain have a double music package deal this weekend. On Friday (August 22), the Sydenham Blues Club present the band Blues Patrol. Fronted by the ‘Soulman’ Andy Roberts, you can expect the best in blistering blues.

Here is a little taster:

Saturday night  (August 23)  features the Chris Corcoran Trio, an instrumental group of top-flight musicians, who recently released the album “The Getaway”.

Both gigs start at 9pm and entry is free.

. Old Spitalfields Paw Pageant

Monday (August 25) will be that day of the year to show off the beautiful dress or the the dapper suit worn by… your dog. This is the forth year of Paw Pageant, a barking competition for the coolest canines in town.

The eight categories are just as fun as seeing dogs doing the catwalk. There’s a doggie celebrity lookalike contest titled Dog-el-ganger, and Dog’s Got Talent competition.

£ 8 pre-registration, £ 10 on the day.
