Police in Croydon are appealing for information following a hit and run on Sunday which has left a man suffering from serious head injuries.

The accident took place between 3.10 and 3.30am on Whitehorse Lane, South Norwood, where the victim was walking with friends after leaving Crystals nightclub. A car was seen driving at speed behind them before mounting the pavement and hitting the man, aged 31.

The victim was taken to a South London hospital where he remains in a stable condition, but with head injuries that are potentially “life changing”.

No arrests have been made to date as the investigation continues.

Detective Constable Lorna Sillett from Croydon CID said: “It would appear that the car deliberately targeted this group and enquiries are on-going to locate the person(s) and vehicle responsible. I would like to appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time to contact police.”

She added: “We would also like to trace a dark coloured BMW that was in the area at the time, as we believe that the occupants of this vehicle may have witnessed the incident.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Croydon CID on 020 3276 2264 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
