A man was seriously assaulted in his home on Musgrove Road, New Cross in the early hours of this morning.

Lewisham’s police officers were called to Musgrove Road in order to respond to noise complaints. Neighbours also found traces of blood outside of the victim’s house, which was found with its door ajar.

Liron Zisser, one of the victim’s neighbours, said: “I heard noises in the middle of the night that were high-pitched, but I thought they were coming from the foxes in the area. They went on for some time, it was quite frightening, but I didn’t think something this horrible could happen.”

The officers at the crime scene told East London Lines that the victim is a man in his late 30s, who they described as ‘a heavy drug user’. The victim is now recovering in the hospital.

This is a developing story and it will be updated as soon as more information is acquired.
