Female cyclist in fatal collision on Amhurst Park

A lorry driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the death of a 29-year-old female cyclist in Hackney.

The collision occurred at the corner of Bethune Road and Amhurst Park in Stamford Hill yesterday morning.

The cyclist suffered from critical injuries after the crash with the lorry. She was pronounced dead at the scene not longer after the accident.

The woman’s next of kin have been informed of her death, but the police will not identify her until formal identification.

The lorry driver was released on bail set to return following future enquiries.

Hackney Mortuary will perform a post-mortem examination today.

Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating the incident, and officers urge anyone who witnessed the collision to call 020 8597 4874.
