Shocking CCTV footage of the moment a passenger head-butted a bus driver in Croydon was released on Wednesday.
The Metropolitan Police are appealing for help from the public in identifying a man who they believe assaulted the bus driver in southwest Croydon in November last year.
A passenger allegedly hunted down the bus driver, and head-butted him, after the driver caused the man to stumble as the bus pulled away.
CCTV footage released shows a passenger in dispute with the 119-bus driver, shortly after he took a stumble as the driver was pulling off.
Further CCTV footage released by the Metropolitan police on Wednesday, then shows an unidentified man attacking the 46-year-old driver, as he waited by a bus stop outside the Colonnades Leisure Park in Waddon. The man then fled the scene.
Detectives believe that it was the same man who had the altercation with the bus driver, who later head-butted him in the car park.
The London Ambulance Service took the driver to hospital, where he was treated for serious head injuries.
The Metropolitan police have since released the footage in the hope of identifying the attacker who is described as a white man, aged between 40 and 50 years old, wearing a flat cap and a dark-coloured jacket.
