Crash victim left with “life-threatening” injuries

A female pedestrian has been left with “life-threatening” injuries after she was hit by a car at a busy junction near Shoreditch High Street this morning.

A black Ford Focus crashed into the woman, who is in her 40s, at 9:20am where the high-street joins to Commercial Street Road.

Hackney police tweeted: “Serious RTC Shoreditch High St j/w Commercial St. Road closures in place avoid area if possible.”

Police said that paramedics and the London Fire Brigade were called to the scene immediately.

The victim was rushed to Royal London Hospital with a serious leg injury, accompanied by a doctor from the London Air Ambulance.

A crew from the London Fire Brigade have since been called to the scene to deal with the fuel on the road caused by the incident.

The driver stopped at the scene and was arrested for dangerous driving.
