Lewisham fish-and-chip shop, Brockley’s Rock, has been named winner of “Best Chippy Chips in London” for the second year running in the Choice Chip Awards.

The award ceremony is hosted each year during Chip Week, which runs from February 16 to February 22, with businesses entering across the country. Entrants are given the chance to win both regional finals and county-based finals and winners are announced during the week. In the UK, there are currently over 10,000 specialist fish-and-chip shops.

On winning the award, Brockley’s Rock said: “Thanks a lot for everyone who voted for us!”

Staff from Brockley’s Rock had dressed up in 50s style outfits for a photoshoot to mark national Chip Week. In celebration of their award, the Brockley shop launched a competition for local businesses based in SE4 to win free chips for their work place, by tweeting or posting on Facebook the words:  ‘We want some Chips @BrockleysRock #Chip #Week”. The shop will be picking a winner each day until Saturday.

On Tuesday, Clare Sedon won the competition. She thanked Brockley’s Rock for the free chips delivered to local businesses Pat-a-Cakes and Brockley Knits on her Twitter account saying: “Thanks! We really enjoyed them 🙂 and thanks for delivering to @Patacake_stacie @BrockleyKnits as well!”
