February 7 - Patricia’s Knitting Club

Do you know your cross stitch from your purl? Come along to New Cross library on Saturday to practice your knitting skills and make new friends at this weekly knitting club.

February 11 to 14 - Free NHS Health Checks

The Free NHS Health Check is part of a national scheme to help lower the risk of health conditions in adults aged 40-74. All who live in the borough and fall within this age group are eligible for free health checks.

February 6 - Hackney Picturehouse: ‘Bands in the Attic’

A variety of bands including Indie/Electro/Alternative and ‘anything in-between that veers on the right side of interesting’ will be on show tonight at Hackney’s Attic. The Attic promises attendees a relaxed atmosphere where one will feel right at home.

February 7: Explore erotica at the museum

Visit Museum of London Archaeological Archive this weekend for a chance to tour the art of archaeological erotica, from ‘cheeky Venus figurines to explicit furnishings of Victorian gentlemen’s clubs’.

Time: 11.00 am to 12.30 pm and 2.00 to 3.30 pm

7 February - The Tour of All Tours

This is a guided tour of guided tours, an event that "occupies a slippery space somewhere between art and tourism".

12 February 12 - UK launch of Islands and Cities: A collection of short stories from London and Tasmania

The 
book features 
a combination of ‘challenging, beautiful, funny, and slighlt rude’ short stories and writings
 from 
London 
and 
Tasmania. The free event will feature readings from the book’s authors including novelist Will Ashon.

February 13: Hearts & Arts - The Mayor of Croydon’s Valentine’s themed charity concert

A charity concert in aid of Macmillan Cancer and AGE (UK), two charities being supported by the Mayor of Croydon, Councillor Manju Shahul-Hameed. The concert will feature local musical talent from the borough, as well as the choirs of both charities.

Time: 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm

Location: RRS Performing Arts Centre

Tickets cost £10 (£5 for students and children) and family price is £25.

 

February 13: Invention Theatre Performance

Nine theatre-makers are coming together at Stanley Halls to produce a surprising night of theatre in south London’s new performance space. Don't miss this night of theatre, dance and music.
