Lewisham Police station will host its annual Family Open Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Sunday on Lewisham High Street, outside the station.
One of the officers from the station, Police Sergeant John Biddle said: “We hold it because it is important the police and local community work together.”
Biddle added: “We expect there to be probably be three thousand people from the local community who attend and they are given a lot opportunity to see how the police station works and the sort of things we do.”
Among the items on show will be vintage police vehicles and police artefacts, which include old-fashioned handcuffs and police uniforms dating as far back as the 1800s.
There will also be opportunities for visitors to meet police horses, and police dogs. Lewisham police officers from many departments and specialty units will be on hand to speak with families and individuals.
Children will be able to take part in a junior detective competition.
Lewisham police have partnered with Lewisham Council and other voluntary organisations for this event. This is the fourth annual open day hosted by the station.
