Footage of a 29-year old man being attacked and beaten by a gang on Tower Bridge has been released by City of London Police in an appeal for witnesses to the incident.

The CCTV clip of the attack in May shows the lone man walking along the bridge as he is approached by a group of 10 to 12 young men.

As the group passes him, one of the men is seen punching the victim in the back of the head.

As he falls to the ground, the other men join in and kick him in the head several times. The sustained attack lasted approximately one minute with the victim suffering cuts and bruises.

The incident occurred on May 31 at approximately 10pm when the victim had been returning from a friend’s wedding.

The police described the men as being in their mid-to-late teens to early 20s and from an Asian background. They had been speaking with local East London accents and were dressed in hooded tops, jackets and tracksuit bottoms. Two of the men had been riding on TFL hired bikes, the police said.

Police Constable Oliver Gent, said: “A group of young men carried out a vicious, cowardly and unprovoked attack on a lone male minding his own business.

It is paramount that we catch those responsible as the group’s next victim might end up with very serious injuries.”
