Ben Walsh, the acclaimed Australian drummer famed for his energetic performances on an eight-drum wheel, will be performing in Croydon tomorrow.

Walsh is launching The Streets, a live performance and arts project that has already seen success in Kingston, Waltham Forest, Richmond, Wandsworth and Redbridge.

Redbridge Community Volunteer Service recorded this performance of Walsh’s recent appearance in Ilford High Street:

Walsh, 39, from Byron Bay, Australia, has been touring since he was 18. In the Nineties he formed The Bird, a high-energy drum, bass and electro band and he has earned a reputation as one of his country’s foremost live electronic artists.

He will be appearing at South Norwood High Street on Tuesday along with local jazz band Da Groovestation. The event starts at 6pm.

Alison Butler, Croydon councillor and cabinet member for homes, regeneration and planning, said: “It’s fantastic that one of our major districts is to host this event.”

Speaking about the acclaimed drummer from Down Under, Butler said: “It’s worth popping along just to see Ben Walsh – by no means your average drummer!”
