Family film screening – Black History month themed

Back History month is here! Lewisham Council will be showing FREE themed family film screenings at the Downham Library. Pop along if you want to step back in time and celebrate past achievements in the black community.

Call Mr Robeson

Celebrated actor, singer and civil rights campaigner, Paul Robeson, is branded a traitor to his country, harassed and denied opportunities to perform or travel when he gets too radical and outspoken for the establishment's liking.

This particular production follows Robeson and his exciting journey through life, highlighting certain events that made him the man he is today.

Tulley’s Farm Halloween Shocktober Fest

Photomonth 2015 celebrates the art of photography in galleries and venues across East London. The festival promotes a diverse range of contemporary photography. Photomonth began in 2001 and has since become one of the largest and most innovative festivals in the UK, giving the opportunity for emerging artists to be appreciated in a variety of interesting and unusual venues alongside leading internationally renowned photographers in major institutions.

Photomonth 2015 opens on 1 October at theprintspace gallery with Harrodsburg, a remarkable body of work by Glaswegian photographer Dougie Wallace, who continues to push the boundaries of the social documentary genre. Other 2015 venues include the Old Truman Brewery and the Rich Mix.

Music for Museums – a season of experimental performance

Music for Museums explores the intersection of visual art and experimental music.

This season of live music and film has its roots in the 1960s when museums became a site of experimentation and collaboration between artists and musicians in contrast to the more conservative concert halls. It features a series of live performances, a film programme, and audio interventions in the public areas of the gallery by the collaborative project Support Structure by Céline Condorelli and Gavin Wade.

The event performances are split up into categories including: Fluxus, The Voice, Electronica, Systems, Machines and Sonic Spaces.

3 ½ Minutes, Ten Bullets film screening plus Director Q&A

A chilling crime-drama documentary, “3 ½ Minutes, Ten Bullets” unravels the truth of the Black Friday murder of teenager Jordan Davis.

This very special event will include a Q&A with director Marc Silver, hosted by Yvonne Connikie from The New Black Film Collective.

Deviation 8th Birthday with secret line-up
